REL S/850 SUBWOOFER
The REL S/850 is a high-performance powered subwoofer from the latest Serie S range, designed for demanding two-channel music systems and home cinema installations. Combining an 850W Linear Class D amplifier, a 12-inch CarbonAlloy active driver and a 12-inch down-firing passive radiator, it delivers substantial low-frequency output from a cabinet designed for both standalone and multi-subwoofer applications.
12-INCH CARBONALLOY DRIVER
The front-firing 12-inch CarbonAlloy driver features a lightweight carbon-fibre centre cap that increases rigidity while reducing moving mass. A die-cast alloy chassis supports the long-throw driver assembly, helping it maintain controlled movement under demanding operating conditions.
A redesigned 12-inch down-firing passive radiator combines carbon, glass fibre and closed-cell foam. Its long-travel construction complements the active driver and contributes to the S/850's specified low-frequency extension of 19Hz at -6dB.
850W LINEAR CLASS D AMPLIFICATION
REL's Linear Class D amplifier provides 850W RMS output, with peak capability reaching 1,000W. The amplifier combines a conventional high-current power supply with an efficient Class D output stage, providing the headroom required for demanding music passages and cinema effects.
HIGH-LEVEL & LOW-LEVEL CONNECTIVITY
The S/850 includes REL's High-Level Neutrik Speakon connection for integration with compatible stereo amplifiers. RCA low-level and dedicated RCA/XLR LFE connections provide alternatives for preamplifiers and home cinema processors.
High-Level and LFE connections can be used together in suitably configured systems, allowing separate music and cinema signal paths. Optional REL Airship Direct wireless connectivity is also supported.
STEREO PAIRS & LINE ARRAYS
The S/850 can operate individually, as a stereo pair or in REL's vertically stacked Line Array configurations. Recessed handles, precision levelling adjustments and supplied mounting hardware support the intended stacking arrangements.
Available in Piano Black and Gloss White lacquer, the S/850 also supports an optional Premium Wood Grille for installations requiring a different visual finish.
