The REL 212/SX is a high-output powered subwoofer designed for demanding stereo music systems and large-scale home cinema. Combining two 12-inch front-firing active drivers, two 12-inch passive radiators and a 1,000W NextGen5 Class D amplifier, it delivers exceptional bass scale, dynamic authority and musical detail from a single enclosure.

FOUR 12-INCH DRIVERS

The 212/SX employs two front-firing 12-inch Continuous CastAlloy active drivers. Carbon-fibre reinforcement blades strengthen the lightweight alloy cones, while the revised suspension system supports greater excursion and controlled movement during demanding low-frequency passages.

Two additional 12-inch passive radiators extend the effective radiating area. The down-firing Carbon/Carbon radiator reinforces deep bass output, while the rear-facing radiator contributes to a greater sense of scale and spaciousness. Together, they provide the equivalent radiating area of four 12-inch drivers, with low-frequency extension reaching 18Hz at -6dB.

1,000W NEXTGEN5 CLASS D AMPLIFICATION

A dedicated 1,000W RMS NextGen5 Class D amplifier drives the two active units. REL's analogue filtering and PerfectFilter technology are designed to preserve low-frequency detail while providing substantial output for complex musical passages and demanding cinema soundtracks.

The combination of powerful amplification and multiple radiating surfaces allows the 212/SX to reproduce large dynamic swings while retaining the precision required for integration with high-end loudspeakers.

HIGH-LEVEL, RCA & BALANCED LFE CONNECTIONS

REL's Neutrik Speakon High-Level input enables connection to compatible stereo amplifiers, allowing the subwoofer to receive the same musical signal as the main loudspeakers. Stereo RCA low-level inputs provide an alternative for suitable preamplifiers, while dedicated RCA and balanced XLR LFE inputs support home cinema processors.

High-Level and LFE connections can be used simultaneously in appropriately configured systems. Optional REL AirShip wireless connectivity is available for installations where running signal cables is impractical.
