The Cayin Soul 170P is a flagship pure Class A vacuum tube power amplifier created for exceptional musical expression and uncompromising stereo reproduction. PURE CLASS A KT170 AMPLIFICATION

Four Tung-Sol KT170 beam tetrodes operate in a carefully designed Class A push-pull circuit. The amplifier combines the harmonic richness associated with premium vacuum tube electronics with the drive and control needed for sophisticated loudspeaker systems.

Two JJ 12AU7/ECC82 valves handle voltage amplification, while two JJ 6SN7 tubes provide driver-stage amplification. A dedicated 17AX4GT rectifier tube supplies the driver circuitry.

STEREO AND MONO OPERATION

The Soul 170P can operate as a conventional stereo power amplifier or be configured for mono operation when higher output power is required.

In stereo mode, it delivers 60 watts per channel in Ultralinear operation or 32 watts per channel in Triode mode. In mono mode, output increases to 120 watts Ultralinear or 64 watts Triode.

Two Soul 170P units can therefore be used as a matched mono power amplifier system. The operating configuration must be selected according to the manufacturer's instructions before connecting loudspeakers.

TRIODE AND ULTRALINEAR MODES

Selectable Triode and Ultralinear operation offers two distinct approaches to valve amplification.

Triode mode is designed for a natural, intimate and harmonically expressive presentation, while Ultralinear mode provides greater output power, dynamic headroom and control. Both modes retain the Soul 170P's pure Class A operating architecture.

ADJUSTABLE NEGATIVE FEEDBACK

Two selectable negative-feedback settings allow further refinement of the amplifier's presentation.

LOW feedback favours an open, fluid and expressive character, while HIGH feedback provides tighter control and greater focus. These adjustments operate within the analogue amplifier circuitry rather than through digital sound processing.

DYNAMIC AUTO BIAS AND TUBE PROTECTION

Cayin's Dynamic Auto Bias servo continuously monitors and regulates the operating conditions of the KT170 output tubes. This technology eliminates the need for routine manual bias adjustment when replacing compatible power tubes.

Dedicated Bias Monitoring Indicator (BMI) circuitry detects abnormal operating conditions and activates protective measures when necessary. An approximately 60-second soft-start sequence further supports safe operation and tube longevity.

HANDCRAFTED AUDIO CIRCUITRY

The Soul 170P features hand-wired point-to-point construction, carefully selected audio components and silver-plated internal signal wiring.

A custom toroidal power transformer supplies the amplifier, while wide-bandwidth EI output transformers provide efficient coupling between the vacuum tube output stage and connected loudspeakers.

RCA AND XLR CONNECTIVITY

Both RCA and balanced XLR analogue inputs are provided for connection to a compatible preamplifier.

Dedicated 4-ohm and 8-ohm loudspeaker connections allow correct matching with suitable passive speakers. The Soul 170P is a power amplifier and requires an external source with appropriate volume control, preferably through a dedicated preamplifier.
