CAYIN SOUL 170C TUBE PREAMPLIFIER
The Cayin Soul 170C is a high-end vacuum tube stereo preamplifier designed to deliver musical refinement, exceptional craftsmanship and flexible system matching. Developed as the natural partner for the Cayin Soul 170P power amplifier, it combines traditional hand-wired valve circuitry with selectable negative feedback, comprehensive analogue connectivity and convenient remote operation.
HIGH-END EIGHT-TUBE ARCHITECTURE
The Soul 170C employs eight vacuum tubes across its audio and power supply circuits. Two Mullard CV4004/12AX7 and two Tung-Sol 6SN7GTB valves perform line-level signal amplification, while separate valve-based rectification and voltage regulation provide carefully conditioned operating power.
This architecture reflects Cayin's experience in designing sophisticated valve components for demanding two-channel audio systems.
VACUUM TUBE RECTIFICATION AND REGULATION
Two 17AX4GT rectifier tubes provide full-wave rectification, while two 6CA7EH valves serve as voltage regulators. Independently regulated power supplies help reduce electrical interference and maintain stable operating conditions for the audio circuitry.
A specially designed EI power transformer and high-quality coupling capacitors support the preamplifier's carefully engineered signal path.
SELECTABLE NEGATIVE FEEDBACK
The Soul 170C offers two negative-feedback settings, allowing listeners to adapt its presentation to their preferred music and accompanying equipment.
LOW NFB provides a more open, fluid and expressive character, while HIGH NFB favours tighter control, focus and precision. The corresponding gain is 17.5dB in LOW mode and 16dB in HIGH mode.
Both settings operate through the analogue circuitry, offering meaningful flexibility without digital sound processing.
VERSATILE RCA AND XLR CONNECTIVITY
Four stereo RCA inputs and one stereo XLR input accommodate a wide range of analogue sources. Balanced XLR and single-ended RCA outputs allow connection to compatible stereo power amplifiers.
The Soul 170C can deliver up to 8Vrms through RCA and 16Vrms through XLR, providing substantial output headroom for suitable downstream amplification.
PRECISION VOLUME AND REMOTE CONTROL
A high-quality Japanese ALPS motorised potentiometer provides smooth analogue volume control. The supplied infrared remote allows convenient input selection, volume adjustment and negative-feedback switching from the listening position.
The preamplifier also remembers its previous operating state when switched off, making everyday use straightforward.
HANDCRAFTED PREMIUM CONSTRUCTION
Hand-wired point-to-point circuitry, thickly silver-plated internal signal wiring and carefully selected components reflect Cayin's commitment to traditional high-end construction.
The substantial chassis features a solid aluminium front panel and genuine North American black walnut side panels. An approximately 60-second soft-start sequence supports the valve circuitry, while the removable protective tube cover adds practical protection.

Designed to complement the Cayin Soul 170P KT170 tube power amplifier, the Soul 170C provides the dedicated analogue source selection, volume control and tonal flexibility needed for an uncompromising separate-component valve system.
It can also be paired with other compatible power amplifiers using its RCA or XLR outputs. The Soul 170C is a line-level preamplifier and does not include a DAC, network streamer, phono stage or speaker power amplification.
