The Cayin CS-55A is a handcrafted Class AB vacuum tube integrated amplifier that combines traditional valve amplification with modern digital and analogue connectivity. EL34 AND KT88 OUTPUT TUBE OPTIONS

The CS-55A is available with either four EL34 or four KT88 output tubes, allowing listeners to select the configuration that best suits their musical preferences and system requirements.

The KT88 configuration delivers up to 40 watts per channel in Ultralinear mode and 22 watts in Triode mode. The EL34 configuration produces 38 watts and 20 watts per channel respectively. Both versions use two 12AX7/ECC83 and two 12AU7/ECC82 small-signal tubes.

TRIODE AND ULTRALINEAR MODES

A selectable operating mode allows the CS-55A to switch between two distinct approaches to tube amplification. Triode mode prioritises an intimate, refined presentation, while Ultralinear mode provides higher output power, improved dynamic headroom and greater flexibility when driving suitable loudspeakers.

A dedicated tube-selection switch accommodates the appropriate EL34 or KT88 operating configuration. Tube changes require correct switch positioning and bias adjustment in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions.

BUILT-IN MM PHONO STAGE

The integrated moving-magnet phono input allows a compatible turntable to connect directly to the amplifier without an external phono preamplifier.

The MM phono section provides 40dB gain, 47kΩ input impedance and precise RIAA equalisation. Two additional stereo RCA line inputs accommodate CD players, streamers and other analogue sources.

HIGH-RESOLUTION USB DAC

A built-in asynchronous USB DAC accepts digital audio from compatible computers at resolutions up to 32-bit/384kHz PCM. This makes the CS-55A suitable for both traditional analogue listening and high-resolution computer audio.

The USB DAC is a digital input rather than a built-in network streamer. Streaming services require an external source such as a computer or compatible music transport.

HANDCRAFTED VALVE AMPLIFICATION

The CS-55A features carefully executed point-to-point wiring, high-quality audio components and ceramic valve sockets. Its power supply employs a specially designed toroidal transformer, while two wide-bandwidth EI output transformers couple the valve output stage to the loudspeakers.

A soft-start circuit helps protect the amplifier during power-up. Accessible bias test points and a built-in bias meter support correct adjustment when maintaining or replacing compatible output tubes.

HEADPHONE LISTENING AND REMOTE CONTROL

A front-panel 6.35mm headphone socket provides a convenient option for private listening. The included remote control allows volume adjustment and access to supported amplifier functions from the listening position.

Separate 4Ω and 8Ω speaker terminals provide appropriate connections for compatible passive loudspeakers.
