PLINIUS KORU MM/MC PHONO PREAMPLIFIER

The Plinius Koru is a high-end phono preamplifier designed to reproduce vinyl recordings with precision, low noise and excellent system flexibility. Supporting both moving magnet (MM) and moving coil (MC) cartridges, it combines adjustable cartridge loading, selectable gain, accurate RIAA equalisation and balanced analogue outputs in a beautifully engineered chassis.

PRECISION RIAA EQUALISATION

The Koru uses a carefully designed equalisation circuit combining passive high-frequency and active low-frequency RIAA correction. This approach is engineered for consistent response and signal stability across the audible frequency range.

Its specified frequency response is 20Hz–20kHz within ±0.2dB of the RIAA curve, making it suitable for revealing the information preserved in demanding vinyl recordings.

FLEXIBLE MM AND MC CARTRIDGE MATCHING

The rear panel provides four selectable gain settings of 50dB, 56dB, 60dB and 66dB, accommodating higher-output MM cartridges and lower-output MC designs.

Eight impedance settings, ranging from 22Ω to 47kΩ, allow the phono stage to be configured according to the cartridge manufacturer's recommendations. Selectable input capacitance of 100pF or 570pF provides further adjustment.

These settings are controlled through accessible rear-panel switches, making cartridge optimisation straightforward without opening the chassis.

SEPARATED POWER SUPPLY ARCHITECTURE

The Koru employs a distinctive two-section chassis that physically separates the power supply from the sensitive audio amplification circuitry.

Its power supply incorporates more than 100,000µF of capacitance and two-stage regulation, providing a low-impedance electrical supply to the amplification stages.

This substantial engineering is particularly valuable in phono amplification, where extremely low-level cartridge signals must be amplified without introducing unnecessary interference.

BALANCED XLR AND RCA OUTPUTS

A stereo RCA phono input and dedicated turntable grounding terminal provide conventional connectivity for a turntable and cartridge.

The Koru offers both balanced XLR and single-ended RCA line-level outputs, allowing integration with a wide range of compatible integrated amplifiers and line preamplifiers.

The output connections are intended for alternative use rather than simultaneous operation. Select the connection that best suits your downstream equipment.
