CEN.GRAND GLD 1.0 DELUXE MEDIA PLAYER

The Cen.Grand GLD 1.0 Deluxe is a reference-grade digital media player and transport built around a dedicated x86 platform, Windows 10 IoT Enterprise and Cen.Grand’s proprietary digital processing architecture. Unlike conventional streamers that rely on USB audio internally, the GLD 1.0 uses PCIe to transfer audio data from the main control system to its dedicated digital processing section.

PCIe-BASED DIGITAL AUDIO ARCHITECTURE

The GLD 1.0 separates its general computing hardware from the audio processing stage. Audio data is transferred over PCIe to a dedicated subsystem containing the receiver, isolation, processing, clock, POW transmission, SPDIF and power-supply sections. Cen.Grand uses synchronous PCIe operation together with its own clock architecture to maintain precise timing throughout the digital signal path.

PROPRIETARY POW DIGITAL OUTPUT

One of the GLD 1.0’s defining features is Cen.Grand’s proprietary POW interface. POW transmits audio data and clock information separately: data travels through optical fibre while the clock is carried over a dedicated BNC connection. A compatible Cen.Grand DAC receives both signals and reconstructs the I²S data stream internally. The GLD 1.0 is especially well matched with the
Cen.Grand DSDAC 1.0 Deluxe.

HDMI-I²S AND CONVENTIONAL DIGITAL OUTPUTS

For wider compatibility, the GLD 1.0 also provides HDMI-I²S together with conventional SPDIF outputs including AES/EBU and coaxial connections. This allows the player to work with a broad range of third-party DACs while retaining the option of Cen.Grand’s proprietary POW connection within a matching system.

WINDOWS, JRIVER AND ROON SUPPORT

The player runs Windows 10 IoT Enterprise LTSC and is supplied with JRiver pre-activated. Because it operates as a Windows-based platform, it can also run compatible ASIO applications and network music services. Cen.Grand specifically recommends Roon, while local NAS playback and directly attached storage are also supported.

DELUXE COMPUTING PLATFORM

The Deluxe version uses an Intel Core i7 platform with 16GB of memory and internal SSD storage, giving it substantially more computing headroom than the Standard edition. This makes it particularly suitable for large local libraries, DSP, upsampling and use as part of a more complex Roon-based system.
