The Cen.Grand DSDAC 1.0 Deluxe is the flagship version of the company’s proprietary DSD-focused DAC platform. It builds on the Standard and Superclock models with a more advanced clock system, revised digital and analogue circuitry, upgraded components and a fully optimised power-supply architecture.

DISCRETE 1-BIT DSD ARCHITECTURE

Rather than relying on a conventional off-the-shelf DAC chip, the DSDAC 1.0 uses a 1-bit conversion structure built around FPGA-controlled shift registers and resistor arrays. Cen.Grand developed the platform specifically around high-rate DSD processing, synchronous direct clocking and local clock replacement.

DSD1024 INTERNAL PROCESSING

Incoming PCM and DSD64 material can be processed internally up to DSD1024 before conversion. Higher-rate DSD can also be handled directly without mandatory upsampling. USB supports PCM up to 384kHz and native DSD512, while SPDIF-based inputs support PCM up to 192kHz and DSD64 via DoP.

100FS CLOCK SYSTEM

The Deluxe model uses Cen.Grand’s upgraded clock architecture with RMS jitter specified as low as 100fs. Its synchronous direct clock system sends the internal femtosecond clock directly to the conversion shift registers without a conventional frequency-divider stage, while clock replacement allows the DAC to rely on its local clock rather than the timing signal from the connected digital source.

UPGRADED ANALOGUE AND POWER SECTIONS

Compared with the Standard model, the Deluxe uses more advanced digital and analogue circuitry together with higher-grade components. Cen.Grand also separates the power architecture with independent transformers for the digital and analogue sections, reducing interaction between the two stages.

PREAMPLIFIER FUNCTION

The DSDAC 1.0 Deluxe can also operate as a preamplifier, providing up to 5dB of gain to an analogue input signal. In preamp mode, the DAC section is disabled. Balanced XLR and single-ended RCA analogue outputs provide 6.2Vrms and 3.51Vrms respectively.
