DENAFRIPS TERRA MASTER CLOCK

The Denafrips Terra is a dedicated high-precision master clock generator designed for digital audio systems with compatible external clock inputs. Using oven-controlled crystal oscillators (OCXO), selectable output frequencies and a substantial linear power supply, Terra provides stable external timing references for suitable network transports, digital-to-digital converters and other digital audio components.

HIGH-PRECISION OCXO CLOCKING

Terra incorporates precision oven-controlled crystal oscillators operating in the 44.1kHz and 48kHz sampling-frequency families. By maintaining the oscillator crystals at a controlled operating temperature, the OCXO architecture is designed to improve frequency stability and minimise timing variations caused by temperature changes.

This makes Terra suitable for systems where external clock synchronisation is supported and precise digital timing is an important part of the overall system architecture.

FIXED & ADJUSTABLE CLOCK OUTPUTS

Terra provides fixed high-frequency clock references at 45.1548MHz and 49.152MHz, alongside configurable outputs for multiple clock frequencies.

Selectable frequencies include 44.1kHz, 48kHz, 11.2896MHz, 12.288MHz, 22.5792MHz and 24.576MHz. Front-panel controls allow the appropriate clock frequency to be selected for compatible connected equipment.

All clock connections use 75Ω BNC interfaces. Unlike conventional 10MHz reference clocks, Terra operates with audio-related clock frequencies and must be matched to the receiving component's specific requirements.

DEDICATED LINEAR POWER SUPPLY

The OCXO circuitry is supported by a high-current, multi-stage linear power supply incorporating a shielded O-Core transformer. The power architecture is designed to maintain stable DC delivery to the oscillators while reducing supply noise and supporting consistent thermal operation.

By dedicating its internal power supply to clock generation, Terra operates independently of the digital processing and analogue conversion circuitry in the connected audio components.

INTEGRATION WITH DIGITAL AUDIO SYSTEMS

Terra can provide external clock references to compatible Denafrips digital transports and interfaces, including the Arce network streamer and Hermes digital-to-digital converters equipped with suitable clock inputs.

The external clock is connected through a 75Ω BNC cable. Before installation, the required reference frequency, impedance and clock-input configuration must be verified.

Terra does not transmit music data, convert digital audio to analogue or provide network streaming. It is a specialist timing component intended to complement, rather than replace, existing digital audio equipment.
