LHY AUDIO FMC NETWORK ISOLATOR

The LHY Audio FMC is a high-performance fibre media converter designed for audiophile Ethernet networks. Combining a Gigabit SFP interface, an isolated RJ45 connection, a precision SC-cut OCXO clock and an integrated low-noise linear power supply, it provides a carefully engineered solution for connecting network audio equipment through an optical link.

OPTICAL GALVANIC ISOLATION

The FMC converts Ethernet data between copper RJ45 and fibre-optic connections. When used with a compatible optical SFP module and fibre link, it helps break the direct electrical path between connected network devices, reducing the transfer of unwanted electrical interference between network segments.

The isolated RJ45 port incorporates additional transformer isolation and supports 10/100/1000Mbps Ethernet connections. This makes the FMC suitable for integration with network streamers, music servers and Ethernet-enabled DACs.

PRECISION SC-CUT OCXO CLOCK

A high-precision SC-cut oven-controlled crystal oscillator provides the internal timing reference for the media conversion circuitry. Supported by low-phase-noise PLL technology, the clock architecture is designed to maintain stable network operation.

The OCXO is used internally and does not provide an external 10MHz reference output for a DAC or master-clock-compatible audio component.

LOW-NOISE LINEAR POWER SUPPLY

The FMC incorporates a Talema toroidal transformer, AC EMI filtering and high-speed rectification circuitry. Three independently regulated LT3042 and PNP low-noise power supply stages deliver carefully controlled DC power to the OCXO and network conversion circuitry.

This integrated power architecture eliminates the need for a separate external power adapter and supports stable operation in demanding network audio installations.

FLEXIBLE SFP CONNECTIVITY

The SFP interface supports suitable Gigabit optical transceivers, allowing users to select compatible single-mode or multimode fibre connections according to their network configuration.

For a complete optical connection, the FMC must connect to another compatible SFP-equipped device or media converter. Appropriate SFP modules and optical cabling are required and should be matched for transmission speed, wavelength and fibre type.

COMPACT ALUMINIUM CONSTRUCTION

The FMC features a solid CNC-machined aluminium alloy chassis measuring 150 × 175 × 50mm. Its internal construction separates functional circuits, while the integrated IEC mains inlet and power switch provide a straightforward installation without an external power supply.

DESIGNED FOR NETWORK AUDIO

The FMC can be used between an optical-capable network switch and an Ethernet streamer, or as part of a dedicated optical network connection using compatible media converters. It is particularly suited to installations where electrical separation between network segments is desirable.

The device transports Ethernet data without changing the digital audio content. Any audible improvement depends on the connected components and their sensitivity to electrical interference.
