DAVIS ACOUSTICS KRYPTON 9 FLOORSTANDING SPEAKERS

The Davis Acoustics Krypton 9 is a substantial 3-way floorstanding loudspeaker designed for medium to large listening rooms. Four dedicated drivers combine a 28mm soft-dome tweeter, 13cm Kevlar midrange and two 17cm cellulose-pulp woofers, giving each part of the frequency range its own purpose-built transducer.

KRYPTON 9 3-WAY DRIVER ARCHITECTURE

The dedicated 13cm Kevlar midrange handles the critical vocal and instrumental region independently from the bass drivers. Above it, a 28mm fabric-dome tweeter incorporates a rear decompression chamber, while the twin 17cm cellulose woofers provide the surface area required for convincing low-frequency output without making the cabinet excessively wide.

DUAL 17CM CELLULOSE WOOFERS

Two treated cellulose-pulp woofers operate in a front-ported bass-reflex enclosure. Davis specifies a frequency response of 40Hz–24kHz at ±3dB, giving the Krypton 9 useful low-frequency extension for full-range stereo listening. The front laminar port also makes the speaker less dependent on large clearance directly behind the cabinet than a conventional rear-ported design.

93DB SENSITIVITY & AMPLIFIER MATCHING

With 93dB sensitivity, 150W nominal power handling and a stated impedance range of 4–8Ω, the Krypton 9 can work with a broad selection of quality integrated and power amplifiers. The relatively high sensitivity is particularly useful in larger rooms, where realistic listening levels can otherwise demand considerably more amplifier power.

DESIGNED FOR 30–50M² ROOMS

Davis Acoustics recommends the Krypton 9 for listening spaces of approximately 30–50m². Each speaker is supplied with an inclined base, installation tools and decoupling spikes. The slight rearward tilt helps align the drivers vertically, while modest toe-in toward the listening position can be used to refine stereo imaging.
