Pair the Soul 170I with three-way French floorstanders featuring 92.5dB sensitivity, a 21cm carbon woofer and Kevlar midrange.
The Cayin Soul 170I is a high-end vacuum tube stereo integrated amplifier built around Tung-Sol KT170 output tubes. Combining Class AB push-pull amplification with selectable Triode and Ultralinear operation, it delivers up to 130W per channel while retaining the flexibility and character of a traditional all-tube design.
The Soul 170I employs four Tung-Sol KT170 power tubes, with two operating in each stereo channel. Its Class AB push-pull output stage provides substantial power reserves for compatible passive loudspeakers.
Two ECC83S tubes handle voltage amplification, supported by two 6SN7GTB driver tubes. An RCA 22DE4 rectifier tube supplies the input and driver-stage power circuitry, creating a carefully engineered all-tube amplification platform.
Two selectable output modes allow the amplifier's operating characteristics to be adapted to different loudspeakers and listening preferences.
Ultralinear mode delivers 130W + 130W RMS, providing maximum available output power and headroom. Triode mode delivers 75W + 75W RMS, offering an alternative output-stage configuration with different harmonic and distortion characteristics.
This flexibility makes the Soul 170I suitable for listeners who want to explore different valve operating modes without changing amplifiers.
An integrated analogue meter allows the KT170 output tube bias to be monitored, with dedicated adjustment controls accessible from the top panel.
The amplifier incorporates a soft-start circuit, high-voltage startup delay and individual high-voltage protection fuses near the output tubes. These measures help protect the sensitive valve circuitry during operation.
One stereo balanced XLR input and three stereo RCA line inputs accommodate external DACs, network streamers, CD players and other analogue sources.
A dedicated PRE-IN connection enables the Soul 170I to operate as a stereo power amplifier with a compatible external preamplifier. An RCA subwoofer output provides additional system integration flexibility, while separate 4Ξ© and 8Ξ© speaker terminals support appropriate loudspeaker matching.
Cayin employs hand-wired point-to-point circuitry, carefully selected audio components, porcelain tube sockets and substantial silver-plated internal signal wiring.
Custom wide-bandwidth EI output transformers and a toroidal power transformer form the foundation of the power supply and output stages. A motorised ALPS volume potentiometer and supplied metal infrared remote provide convenient everyday operation.
The substantial chassis combines an anodised aluminium front panel with genuine wooden side panels, while operating-state memory recalls the previous settings after the amplifier is switched off.
