CAYIN N3 ULTRA PORTABLE TUBE DIGITAL AUDIO PLAYER

The Cayin N3 Ultra is a high-resolution portable digital audio player combining genuine vacuum tube technology with advanced digital conversion and headphone amplification. Developed as the successor to the N3 Pro, it brings together dual AKM DACs, Cayin's third-generation tube circuit and three selectable timbres in a compact player dedicated to local music playback.

GEN3 VACUUM TUBE ARCHITECTURE

The N3 Ultra features two military-grade Raytheon JAN6418 NOS miniature pentode tubes. Cayin's Gen3 circuit uses the tubes as low-gain voltage amplifiers, followed by an FET buffer that improves the driving capability of the analogue stage.

A specially engineered mechanical suspension and silicone damping system helps suppress microphonic noise caused by movement and vibration, addressing one of the principal challenges of portable tube amplification.

THREE SELECTABLE TIMBRES

Cayin's Triple Timbre system provides Classic Tube, Modern Tube and Solid-State operating modes. The two tube modes use different screen-grid configurations to create distinct circuit responses, while Solid-State mode provides an alternative transistor-based signal path.

All three timbres are available through both the 3.5mm single-ended and 4.4mm balanced analogue outputs, including headphone and line-level operation. This flexibility allows listeners to explore the different timbres with headphones or compatible external amplifiers.

DUAL AKM DACs AND HIGH-RESOLUTION AUDIO

Two AKM AK4493SEQ DAC chips operate in mono configuration, supported by FPGA-based digital processing and precision reclocking. The player handles PCM up to 32-bit/768kHz and native DSD512.

A four-channel JRC NJW1195A electronic volume controller provides precise analogue volume adjustment, while a 10-band parametric equalizer allows further customization of the listening experience.

POWERFUL HEADPHONE OUTPUTS AND DIGITAL CONNECTIVITY

The 3.5mm single-ended headphone output delivers up to 250mW into 32Ω, while the 4.4mm balanced output provides up to 600mW per channel into 32Ω. Dedicated 3.5mm and switchable 4.4mm line outputs allow direct connection to external audio equipment.

USB-C supports high-resolution USB DAC operation, USB digital audio output and OTG storage. Coaxial S/PDIF digital output is also available through a compatible USB-C adapter.

DEDICATED MUSIC PLAYBACK

A customized Android 8.1 operating system focuses on local music playback rather than wireless streaming or third-party applications. The 4.1-inch HD touchscreen, physical playback controls and microSD support up to 1TB make managing a high-resolution music collection straightforward.

The CNC-machined aluminium chassis weighs approximately 204g and incorporates a 4500mAh battery with QC3.0 fast charging. Playback time reaches approximately 12 hours through the single-ended output in Solid-State mode, depending on usage conditions.
