Pair the M-845i with Cayin's dedicated CD player and DAC for physical disc playback and additional digital sources.
The Cayin M-845i is a high-end single-ended Class A vacuum tube integrated amplifier combining traditional directly heated triode amplification with a substantial, contemporary chassis design. Delivering 22W per channel, it uses 845 output tubes driven by 300B triodes and offers balanced XLR connectivity, adjustable negative feedback and dedicated power amplifier operation.
The M-845i employs two 845 directly heated power triodes, one for each stereo channel, in a single-ended Class A output configuration.
Unlike push-pull amplifiers, a single-ended output stage amplifies the complete audio waveform through one output device per channel. Cayin combines this architecture with specially designed wide-bandwidth EI output transformers to deliver 22W per channel into compatible loudspeakers.
The amplifier incorporates 300B triode driver amplification, supported by 6SL7 voltage amplification tubes and 6SN7 driver and preamplifier tubes.
This multi-stage valve architecture provides the voltage amplification and drive required by the 845 output stage. A dedicated 6SN7 also serves in the preamplifier power regulation circuit, reflecting Cayin's attention to the operating conditions of its analogue stages.
The M-845i offers two negative-feedback settings, 0dB and -3dB, allowing users to adjust the amplifier's operating characteristics.
Negative feedback influences gain, distortion behaviour and the electrical interaction between the amplifier and connected loudspeakers. The selectable settings provide additional flexibility when matching the M-845i with different speaker systems.
One stereo balanced XLR input and two stereo RCA line inputs accommodate external DACs, music streamers, CD players and other compatible analogue sources.
A dedicated PRE-IN connection enables the M-845i to operate as a stereo power amplifier with a suitable external preamplifier. Separate 4Ξ© and 8Ξ© speaker terminals support appropriate loudspeaker matching.
User-accessible output tube bias and hum balance adjustment controls are positioned on top of the amplifier, together with an integrated analogue current meter.
The internal construction features hand-wired point-to-point circuitry, a dedicated toroidal power transformer, wide-bandwidth EI output transformers and thickly silver-plated signal wiring.
An ALPS volume potentiometer, infrared remote control and operating-state memory provide practical convenience. The amplifier is also supplied with a protective tube cover.
