FLAGSHIP DUAL AK4499EX CONVERSION

The iDAC-8 features an AKM AK4191 digital delta-sigma modulator and two flagship AK4499EX DAC chips, each operating in mono mode for dedicated left and right channel conversion.

This sophisticated configuration provides excellent channel separation, impressive dynamic range and highly detailed music reproduction. The fully balanced design maintains signal integrity throughout the conversion and analogue output stages.

DUAL TIMBRE: TUBE OR SOLID STATE

Cayin's selectable Dual Timbre architecture allows listeners to choose between two independent analogue output paths.

The vacuum tube circuit employs four 6H6b-B dual-triode valves in a cathode-follower configuration, delivering a spacious, natural and harmonically engaging presentation. The solid-state circuit offers a more direct, precise and dynamic character.

Unlike conventional digital sound presets, these modes use different analogue circuitry, allowing meaningful system matching without changing the digital source.

PCM 768KHZ AND DSD512

The USB-B and HDMI-style I²S inputs support PCM up to 32-bit/768kHz and native DSD512. USB also supports DSD up to DSD256 via DoP.

AES/EBU and coaxial digital inputs support PCM up to 24-bit/192kHz, while the optical input supports PCM up to 24-bit/176.4kHz. These inputs offer convenient integration with compatible CD transports, network streamers and digital interfaces.

FIXED LINE OUTPUT OR VARIABLE PREAMPLIFIER

The iDAC-8 offers both fixed-level LINE OUT and adjustable PRE OUT operation through balanced XLR and unbalanced RCA connectors.

Its NJW1195AV four-channel analogue volume controller provides precise level adjustment in preamplifier mode. This allows direct connection to compatible power amplifiers and active loudspeakers without a separate preamplifier.

PRE mode can deliver substantially higher output levels than LINE mode. Always reduce volume before switching modes or connecting directly to a power amplifier.

VERSATILE DIGITAL INPUTS

Six digital input connections are provided: USB-B, HDMI-style I²S, AES/EBU, optical Toslink, RCA coaxial and BNC coaxial.

The I²S interface is intended for compatible digital audio transports. Its HDMI-style connector does not support conventional HDMI video, ARC or eARC, and the source's I²S pin configuration must be checked before connection.

PREMIUM POWER SUPPLY AND CONSTRUCTION

A dedicated 45W toroidal transformer, 29,200µF of Nichicon filtering capacitance and carefully regulated power circuits support the DAC and analogue stages.

The rigid aluminium enclosure features precision-machined heat-dissipating side panels and a clear 3.12-inch OLED display. Front-panel controls provide direct access to input selection, timbre and output mode.
