CEN.GRAND 9I-906 SILVER FOX HEADPHONE AMPLIFIER

The Cen.Grand 9i-906 Silver Fox is a dedicated high-end headphone amplifier developed for demanding full-size headphones, including low-sensitivity planar magnetic designs. Its amplifier topology is derived from high-power speaker amplification and uses a substantial output stage designed to deliver both high current and high voltage where required.

20W OUTPUT INTO 30Ω

Cen.Grand specifies up to 20W into a 30Ω load in BTL mode, giving the Silver Fox unusually high output capability for a dedicated headphone amplifier. The output stage uses four pairs of high-power FET devices and is designed to maintain strong drive into difficult headphone loads without relying on a conventional compact headamp topology.

FOUR OUTPUT OPERATING MODES

The 9i-906 provides four selectable output configurations: Normal, Balanced BTL, Active Ground and Parallel. These modes change how the amplifier’s output stages are configured, allowing the user to optimise voltage delivery, current capability and system behaviour for different headphones.

FOUR IMPEDANCE SETTINGS

Headphone matching can be refined further through one high-resistance mode and three low-resistance settings. Cen.Grand recommends experimenting with the available combinations according to headphone sensitivity, impedance and listening preference, giving the Silver Fox considerably more adjustment than a conventional fixed-output headphone amplifier.

BALANCED ANALOGUE ARCHITECTURE

The rear panel provides two balanced XLR inputs and two single-ended RCA inputs. When an RCA source is connected, the incoming signal is converted internally to balanced operation, allowing the amplifier to retain its full output capability. Balanced source connection is nevertheless recommended where available.

FOUR HEADPHONE CONNECTION OPTIONS

The front panel accommodates 4-pin XLR, dual 3-pin XLR, 4.4mm balanced and 6.35mm single-ended headphone connections. This makes the Silver Fox straightforward to integrate with a wide range of high-end headphone cables without adapters.

PURE HEADPHONE AMPLIFICATION
