EVERSOLO DAC-Z8 DAC / HEADPHONE AMP

The Eversolo DAC-Z8 combines a high-resolution DAC, fully balanced preamplifier and headphone amplifier in one compact component. It is built around ESS’s flagship ES9038Pro converter and an XMOS XU316 USB interface, supporting PCM up to 32-bit / 768kHz and native DSD512 over USB.

ES9038PRO CONVERSION

At the heart of the DAC-Z8 is the ESS ES9038Pro. Eversolo uses the chip in conjunction with eight OPA1612 operational amplifiers for I/V conversion, with the DAC’s eight internal channels arranged into a two-channel parallel output configuration. The analogue section is fully balanced and is used for both XLR and RCA line outputs.

HIGH-RESOLUTION USB AUDIO

The XMOS XU316 USB interface supports PCM up to 768kHz at 32-bit resolution and native DSD512. USB-B is provided for computers and dedicated digital transports, while USB-C offers direct connection for compatible mobile devices. Optical and coaxial inputs support PCM up to 192kHz and DSD64 via DoP.

BLUETOOTH 5.0 WITH LDAC

For convenient wireless playback, the DAC-Z8 uses a Qualcomm QCC5125 Bluetooth 5.0 receiver. Supported codecs include SBC, AAC, aptX, aptX LL, aptX HD and LDAC, making it suitable for both serious wired systems and casual playback from phones or tablets.

BUILT-IN HEADPHONE AMPLIFIER

The front-panel 6.35mm headphone output is designed for headphones from 16Ω to 300Ω and provides selectable low- and high-gain operation. Output power reaches 45mW into 32Ω in low-gain mode and 26mW into 300Ω in high-gain mode.

BALANCED PREAMPLIFIER FUNCTION

The DAC-Z8 can also operate as a preamplifier, with balanced XLR and single-ended RCA outputs and adjustable volume. XLR output reaches 4.1Vrms at 0dBFS, while RCA output reaches 2.3Vrms. For systems requiring built-in network streaming as well, see the
