Pair the E50 II with a fully balanced headphone amplifier offering 4.4mm output and dedicated analogue volume control.
The Topping E50 II is a compact, fully balanced digital-to-analogue converter and preamplifier built around AKM's AK4497S VELVET SOUND technology. Combining high-resolution USB audio, Bluetooth connectivity, digital equalisation and flexible analogue outputs, it brings advanced DAC functionality to desktop systems, conventional Hi-Fi installations and compatible studio setups.
At the heart of the E50 II is an AKM AK4497S converter, designed for precise digital-to-analogue conversion with exceptionally low noise and distortion. Topping's optimised analogue circuitry achieves a manufacturer-specified signal-to-noise ratio of up to 131dB through the balanced outputs in high-output mode.
The balanced signal path provides compatibility with dedicated headphone amplifiers, active loudspeakers and other equipment featuring balanced analogue inputs. Conventional stereo RCA outputs are also available.
The USB-C digital input supports PCM up to 32-bit/768kHz and native DSD512 from compatible computers and digital transports. Coaxial and optical inputs provide connections for CD transports, streamers, televisions and other digital audio sources.
The USB-C connection can also supply operating power. A separate 5V power input is provided when additional or independent power is needed, particularly when connecting smartphones and tablets.
Unlike many conventional compact DACs, the E50 II can receive both standard optical S/PDIF audio and ADAT signals through its Toslink input. In ADAT mode, users can select the stereo channel pair to be converted, making the DAC useful with compatible professional audio interfaces.
Supported ADAT sample rates extend to 192kHz, with the available input-channel configuration depending on the selected sampling rate. ADAT operation requires correct settings on the connected source.
An integrated 10-band parametric equaliser allows detailed frequency-response adjustment using Topping's software and the TOPPING Home app. Three configurations can be stored directly on the device for convenient recall without maintaining a permanent computer connection.
PEQ is supported across compatible USB, optical, coaxial and Bluetooth PCM signals, within the sampling-rate limits specified for each input. Six selectable PCM reconstruction filters provide additional playback flexibility.
Bluetooth connectivity provides convenient wireless audio playback from compatible smartphones, tablets and computers. Supported codecs include LDAC, aptX Adaptive, aptX HD, aptX, AAC and SBC.
This allows the E50 II to serve as a versatile digital source for both traditional wired playback and everyday wireless listening.
The E50 II provides separate stereo RCA and balanced 6.35mm TRS outputs. Users can select either output or activate both simultaneously.
Fixed-level DAC mode is available for use with external volume-controlled amplifiers, while preamplifier mode provides adjustable volume for compatible power amplifiers and active loudspeakers.
Selectable low and high output-voltage settings support system matching, although high-output mode requires particular care with sensitive downstream equipment.
A clear LED display, front-panel touch control and supplied remote provide access to input selection, output configuration, volume and equalisation presets. Two remote-control memory buttons can store preferred operating configurations for convenient switching between listening setups.
The compact aluminium enclosure makes the E50 II equally suitable for desktop installations and larger stereo systems requiring a flexible, high-resolution digital source.
