Enjoy sensitive 21Ω in-ear monitors with interchangeable tuning nozzles through the DX1 II's 3.5mm output.
The Topping DX1 II is a compact USB-powered DAC, balanced headphone amplifier and digital preamplifier designed for music listening, desktop audio and gaming. Combining an ESS ES9039Q2M converter, XMOS USB processing, 10-band parametric equalisation and microphone support, it brings flexible audio connectivity to a remarkably small enclosure.
At its core, the DX1 II uses the ESS ES9039Q2M DAC chip within a balanced audio architecture. Topping specifies a dynamic range of up to 128dB and THD+N below 0.00007% through the balanced line output, demonstrating its focus on accurate digital-to-analogue conversion.
The XMOS XU316 USB interface supports PCM up to 32-bit/384kHz and native DSD256. Selectable USB Audio Class 1.0 and 2.0 modes broaden compatibility with computers and supported gaming consoles.
The DX1 II provides both a 3.5mm single-ended headphone connection and a 4.4mm balanced headphone output. The balanced output delivers up to 1,000mW per channel into 32Ω or 64Ω under the manufacturer's maximum-power test conditions.
Low and high gain settings allow the amplifier to accommodate a range of headphones and sensitive in-ear monitors. Its low measured output noise helps maintain a clean background during quiet listening passages.
Built-in 10-band parametric equalisation works with Topping Tune software, allowing users to adjust frequency response for headphones, speakers and personal listening preferences. Three configurable EQ presets can be stored and selected directly from the device.
Parametric EQ supports PCM signals up to 192kHz through compatible USB and optical connections. Independent left and right channel adjustments provide further flexibility for personalised tuning.
The front 3.5mm socket supports conventional headphones and CTIA-standard headsets with an integrated microphone. This makes the DX1 II suitable for voice communication, online gaming and video calls as well as music playback.
Switchable UAC 1.0 operation supports compatible gaming consoles, while the USB-C connection carries audio data and provides operating power from a suitable host.
In addition to USB audio, the DX1 II provides Toslink optical input and output for connection to televisions, consoles, digital transports and external DACs. Optical output settings allow supported PEQ processing and volume adjustment when configured.
A rear 4.4mm balanced stereo line output and conventional RCA outputs provide connections to external amplifiers and active loudspeakers. The DX1 II supports fixed-level DAC operation or adjustable line-level output for preamplifier use.
Measuring just 100mm wide, the DX1 II fits easily beside a computer, monitor or gaming console. A front-panel display, multifunction volume control and included infrared remote provide convenient everyday operation.
Its combination of balanced headphone amplification, microphone connectivity, digital equalisation and analogue line outputs makes the DX1 II a versatile starting point for a modern desktop audio system.
