TOPPING D900 DISCRETE 1-BIT DAC

The Topping D900 is the brand's flagship standalone DAC, featuring a proprietary discrete 1-bit conversion architecture, precision analogue volume control and extensive digital connectivity. Designed for high-performance stereo and headphone systems, it combines Topping's advanced PSRM technology with dedicated balanced DAC and preamplifier outputs.

32-ELEMENT DISCRETE 1-BIT PSRM ARCHITECTURE

At the heart of the D900 is Topping's Precision Stream Reconstruction Matrix (PSRM), a proprietary discrete 1-bit conversion system using 32 conversion elements per channel. Unlike conventional DAC designs based on integrated converter chips, PSRM employs dedicated conversion circuitry and custom digital processing.

The architecture uses high-speed 1-bit switching and precision analogue reconstruction to convert digital audio into an analogue signal. Topping specifies a signal-to-noise ratio of up to 131dB, demonstrating the capabilities of its independently developed conversion platform.

DUAL BALANCED XLR OUTPUTS

The D900 features two separate stereo XLR output pairs. A dedicated fixed-level line output connects directly to a preamplifier, integrated amplifier or headphone amplifier, while the variable preamplifier output provides adjustable analogue volume control.

A precision 256-step relay-controlled resistor attenuator handles volume adjustment in the preamplifier section. This allows the D900 to drive compatible power amplifiers or active loudspeakers without requiring an additional preamplifier.

The D900 has no conventional RCA analogue outputs. The fixed-level XLR outputs are not controlled by the volume setting and should not be connected directly to power amplifiers or active speakers without appropriate volume management.

10-BAND PARAMETRIC EQ & TOPPING TUNE

A configurable 10-band parametric equalizer allows precise frequency-response adjustments through Topping Tune software. Users can create and store custom correction curves, adjust individual frequency bands and tailor the response to their system or listening preferences.

PEQ is available with supported PCM signals up to 192kHz over compatible wired inputs, with separate limits for Bluetooth. The processing can also be bypassed for conventional DAC operation.

PCM768, DSD512 & DIGITAL CONNECTIVITY

USB Type-B, USB Type-C and HDMI-style I²S connectivity support high-resolution PCM up to 32-bit/768kHz and native DSD512. Additional inputs include AES/EBU, two coaxial S/PDIF connections and two Toslink optical inputs.

Bluetooth 5.1 supports LDAC, aptX Adaptive, aptX HD, aptX, AAC and SBC. This provides convenient wireless playback alongside the D900's wired digital connections.

The HDMI-style I²S port is a dedicated digital audio input rather than an HDMI video connection. Compatible signal assignments must be confirmed when connecting third-party digital transports.

DEDICATED DAC & PREAMPLIFIER OPERATION

The D900 includes a colour display with normal information, VU meter and FFT spectrum modes. A supplied remote control and 12V trigger connections support convenient integration with external amplification.

Its fully balanced analogue architecture makes it a natural partner for the Topping A900 headphone amplifier or a pair of B200 monoblock power amplifiers. A dedicated network transport can also be connected through USB, AES/EBU or a compatible I²S interface.

The D900 does not include headphone amplification or built-in network streaming.
