The TOPPING D90 III SABRE is a fully balanced high-performance DAC built around two ESS ES9039SPRO converter chips, with one DAC dedicated to each channel. It is designed for systems that prioritise low noise, high dynamic range, flexible digital connectivity and precise preamplifier functionality.

DUAL ES9039SPRO ARCHITECTURE

Each channel uses its own ES9039SPRO DAC, allowing the D90 III SABRE to operate as a true dual-mono conversion platform. TOPPING combines the DAC stage with a revised I/V conversion circuit and high-performance analogue output section, achieving extremely low distortion and up to 135dB signal-to-noise ratio from the balanced outputs.

PCM 768KHZ AND NATIVE DSD512

USB and HDMI-I²S inputs support PCM up to 32-bit / 768kHz and native DSD512. Coaxial, optical and AES/EBU inputs support PCM up to 192kHz and DSD64 via DoP, giving the D90 III SABRE wide compatibility with computers, dedicated digital transports and streamers.

HDMI-I²S DIGITAL INPUT

An HDMI-format I²S input allows direct connection to compatible digital transports and interfaces. This is particularly useful in high-end digital systems where I²S is preferred over conventional SPDIF connections. The DAC also provides USB, AES/EBU, coaxial and optical inputs for conventional sources.

BLUETOOTH 5.1 WITH LDAC

Wireless playback is handled by a Qualcomm Bluetooth 5.1 platform supporting LDAC, aptX Adaptive, aptX HD, aptX, AAC and SBC. This makes the D90 III SABRE suitable for casual wireless listening without compromising its role as a dedicated wired DAC.

BALANCED PREAMPLIFIER FUNCTION

The D90 III SABRE provides balanced XLR and single-ended RCA outputs and can operate in fixed-output DAC mode or variable-output preamplifier mode. Users can select 4V or 5V output modes, with the XLR outputs reaching up to 5.2Vrms and RCA up to 2.6Vrms.

With USB, HDMI-I²S, AES, coaxial, optical and Bluetooth inputs, plus 12V trigger integration and balanced analogue outputs, the D90 III SABRE works particularly well as the digital control centre of a high-end stereo system. It can be paired directly with a dedicated power amplifier or used with a separate preamplifier.
