SONCOZ SGP1 STEREO POWER AMPLIFIER

The Soncoz SGP1 is a reference-grade Class AB stereo power amplifier engineered for exceptional transparency, ultra-low distortion and powerful loudspeaker control. Delivering 120 watts per channel into 8 ohms and 240 watts per channel into 4 ohms, it combines high-performance discrete circuitry, a patented driver architecture and premium construction in a compact chassis.

POWERFUL CLASS AB AMPLIFICATION

The SGP1 uses four complementary pairs of parallel NPN/PNP output transistors per channel in a push-pull configuration. This architecture provides the current delivery required for dynamic music reproduction and compatible demanding loudspeaker loads.

Its manufacturer-rated output reaches 2 × 120W into 8 ohms or 2 × 240W into 4 ohms, giving the amplifier ample reserves for both premium bookshelf speakers and floorstanding loudspeakers.

PATENTED LOW-DISTORTION DRIVER CIRCUIT

Soncoz developed the SGP1 over three years, focusing on minimising crossover distortion and maintaining linear performance across changing signal levels and loudspeaker loads.

A patented discrete driver module works with the output stages to achieve a manufacturer-specified THD+N below 0.0003% and a signal-to-noise ratio of 130dB, A-weighted, at full rated output.

BALANCED XLR AUDIO INPUTS

The SGP1 features one stereo pair of balanced XLR inputs for connection to compatible preamplifiers, DACs with volume control and network streamers offering adjustable balanced analogue outputs.

With a fixed gain of 28dB and an input sensitivity of 2.5Vrms, the amplifier is particularly well suited to balanced audio systems. It has no RCA input, built-in volume control or source selector, so an appropriate upstream component is essential.

HIGH-CAPACITY SWITCHING POWER SUPPLY

A custom high-frequency switching power supply provides the power required by the Class AB output stages while keeping the chassis compact.

The carefully designed supply and filtering circuitry support stable operation and contribute to the amplifier's low noise floor. Unlike traditional large transformer-based amplifiers, the SGP1 achieves substantial output power without excessive weight.

ADVANCED PASSIVE COOLING

Two substantial side-mounted aluminium heatsinks provide an extensive surface area for efficient thermal dissipation. Their precision-machined structure works alongside chassis ventilation to manage heat during operation.

Soncoz also designed the amplifier to reach its intended operating performance rapidly after switching on, without requiring an extended warm-up period.

DUAL ILLUMINATED VU METERS

A pair of distinctive orange illuminated VU meters gives the SGP1 its recognisable appearance while providing visual feedback of left and right channel output activity.

The solid aluminium enclosure, minimalist front panel and carefully arranged connections make it a natural partner for Soncoz DACs and preamplifiers.

12V TRIGGER AND SYSTEM INTEGRATION

A trigger connection enables coordinated power operation with compatible upstream equipment. The rear panel also provides clearly arranged speaker terminals, a mains voltage selector and an IEC power inlet.
