The REL S/550 brings the performance of REL's latest Serie S range to a more compact enclosure, combining exceptional musical precision with the output required for demanding home cinema systems. Featuring a 10-inch CarbonAlloy active driver, a 12-inch down-firing passive radiator and 550W Linear Class D amplification, it delivers deep, controlled bass with natural integration into high-quality loudspeaker systems.

10-INCH CARBONALLOY DRIVER

The front-firing 10-inch (250mm) active driver features REL's redesigned CarbonAlloy cone with a pure carbon-fibre centre cap and die-cast alloy chassis. Its lightweight construction and revised suspension help maintain precise movement during demanding low-frequency passages, improving transient response and preserving musical detail.

A newly engineered 12-inch (305mm) down-firing Carbon/Carbon passive radiator complements the active driver. The redesigned radiator uses carbon fibre, glass fibre and closed-cell foam to increase rigidity while reducing moving mass. Together, the drivers achieve a specified low-frequency extension of 19Hz at -6dB.

550W LINEAR CLASS D AMPLIFICATION

The S/550 uses a 550W RMS Linear Class D amplifier designed to combine powerful bass reproduction with excellent efficiency and control. REL's second-generation PerfectFilter analogue circuitry supports low-frequency extension and seamless integration with the main loudspeakers.

The amplifier and driver system are optimised for both dynamic film soundtracks and demanding stereo music, providing substantial headroom without sacrificing the speed and articulation expected from Serie S.

HIGH-LEVEL, RCA & BALANCED CONNECTIONS

REL's signature Neutrik Speakon High-Level input allows the S/550 to connect to compatible stereo amplifiers. RCA low-level inputs provide an alternative for suitable preamplifiers, while dedicated RCA and balanced XLR LFE connections support AV receivers and home cinema processors.

High-Level and LFE signal paths can operate simultaneously in appropriately configured systems, making the S/550 suitable for installations shared between music listening and home cinema. Optional REL Airship Direct wireless connectivity is also supported.

PREMIUM SERIE S DESIGN

The S/550 features the refined cabinet architecture of the latest Serie S generation, incorporating internal reinforcement, recessed handles and precision levelling adjustments. The enclosure is available in Piano Black or Gloss White lacquer, with a cloth grille included as standard.

An optional Premium Wood Grille provides an alternative visual finish for customers seeking a more distinctive appearance. Its compact proportions make the S/550 particularly well suited to medium-sized listening rooms.

STEREO PAIRS & LINE ARRAY SYSTEMS

The S/550 can be used individually, as a stereo pair or in compatible vertically stacked REL Line Arrays. Multiple subwoofers can provide greater bass headroom, enhanced stereo scale and more consistent low-frequency coverage when correctly positioned and calibrated.
