PLINIUS TOKO CD PLAYER & NETWORK STREAMER

The Plinius Toko is a high-end digital audio player combining a precision slot-loading CD transport with DLNA-compatible network music playback. Designed and manufactured in New Zealand, it offers a practical combination of traditional compact disc listening and high-resolution playback from a home music network, supported by a dedicated Burr-Brown DAC and balanced analogue outputs.

PRECISION SLOT-LOADING CD TRANSPORT

The Toko incorporates the same quality slot-loading CD transport used in the Plinius Mauri CD player. Inserting a conventional audio CD activates disc playback, while removing the disc returns the player to its network audio function.

Its minimalist front panel includes transport controls, status indicators and track display LEDs. A supplied infrared remote provides convenient access to CD playback functions.

DLNA NETWORK MUSIC PLAYBACK

A rear-panel 10/100 Ethernet connection allows the Toko to access compatible DLNA media servers and network music libraries.

The player supports FLAC, LPCM, ALAC, AIFF, WAV and MP3 audio files, including high-resolution PCM playback up to 24-bit/192kHz where supported by the file format.

Gapless playback enables uninterrupted listening to live recordings, classical performances and albums intended to flow continuously between tracks.

BURR-BROWN DIGITAL-TO-ANALOGUE CONVERSION

The Toko features a dedicated Burr-Brown DAC and digital interface receiver, allowing both CD and network audio to be converted internally for direct connection to an analogue Hi-Fi system.

The conversion stage supports PCM audio up to 24-bit/192kHz. Carefully selected analogue components, including Audience Auricap XO capacitors, contribute to the design of its output circuitry.

BALANCED XLR AND RCA OUTPUTS

A stereo pair of Neutrik balanced XLR outputs and a pair of WBT RCA outputs allow the Toko to connect to compatible integrated amplifiers and preamplifiers.

An additional RC5 remote-control input supports integration with suitable wired control systems. The network connection can also be used with compatible UPnP and DLNA controller applications.

ROBUST ALUMINIUM CONSTRUCTION

The Toko features a substantial aluminium enclosure designed to provide mechanical stability and shielding for its sensitive audio circuitry.

Its clean, distinctive exterior is available in Black and Silver, with styling that complements other Plinius components while remaining suitable for mixed-brand stereo systems.
