PLINIUS KAITAKI STEREO PREAMPLIFIER
The Plinius Kaitaki is a high-end analogue stereo preamplifier designed to provide precise source selection and volume control within a dedicated Hi-Fi system. Combining balanced and single-ended connectivity, Home Theatre Bypass and an optional MM/MC phono stage, it offers a flexible control centre for separate power amplification.
REFINED ANALOGUE PREAMPLIFICATION
The Kaitaki draws on circuit development from Plinius integrated amplifiers and source components. Its carefully regulated, low-impedance power supply supports the analogue signal stages, while selected Audience Auricap XO capacitors and Auric oxygen-free copper wiring are used in critical circuit areas.
A 12dB line-stage gain provides suitable signal amplification for a wide range of compatible stereo power amplifiers.
FLEXIBLE RCA AND XLR CONNECTIONS
The Kaitaki accommodates multiple analogue sources through five stereo RCA line inputs and a selectable balanced XLR connection for the CD input.
Both balanced XLR and single-ended RCA preamplifier outputs are provided for connection to suitable power amplifiers. A separate fixed-level line output allows the selected source signal to feed a recording device, headphone amplifier or other compatible line-level component.
OPTIONAL MM/MC PHONO STAGE
The Kaitaki is available with an optional internal phono module based on the Plinius Hautonga design. This factory-fitted option supports moving magnet and moving coil cartridge matching through selectable gain and loading settings.
The phono stage offers 60dB or 66dB gain and five selectable impedance settings from 22Ī© to 47kĪ©. Units without the phono module can instead use an external phono preamplifier connected to a line-level input.
HOME THEATRE INTEGRATION
A dedicated Home Theatre Bypass input permits the Kaitaki to be integrated with compatible surround processors, while trigger connections support coordinated operation with external amplification.
An RC5 control input supports wired control systems, and a ground-lift switch provides a practical option for addressing unwanted ground-loop noise.
PLINIUS DESIGN AND EVERYDAY CONTROL
The aluminium enclosure provides a non-magnetic housing for the sensitive analogue circuitry. A front-panel rotary volume control, individual source-selection buttons and clear status indicators maintain straightforward operation.
A supplied full-function infrared remote manages mute, phase, input selection and additional settings. Available in Black and Silver/Grey finishes, the Kaitaki is designed and manufactured in New Zealand.
