LHY AUDIO SW-10 PRO NETWORK SWITCH

The LHY Audio SW-10 Pro is a flagship audiophile Ethernet switch combining high-speed networking, optical galvanic isolation and precision clock distribution in one substantial component. Developed in collaboration with Vinshine Audio, it features six RJ45 Ethernet ports, two optical interfaces, dual SC-cut OCXO oscillators and two external 10MHz reference-clock outputs.

Its multi-zone architecture is designed for sophisticated digital audio systems that combine network streamers, music servers, NAS storage and DACs with external clock inputs.

DEDICATED NETWORK & AUDIO ZONES

The SW-10 Pro separates its network connections into two functional groups. Four 2.5Gbps RJ45 ports provide high-speed connectivity for routers, network storage and other compatible devices. Two isolated Gigabit RJ45 ports form a dedicated audio zone intended for sensitive streaming components.

This arrangement allows high-bandwidth network equipment and dedicated audio devices to be connected through different sections of the same switch. The internal architecture is designed to reduce the transfer of unwanted electrical interference between these sections.

INTEGRATED OPTICAL GALVANIC ISOLATION

Unlike conventional network switches, the SW-10 Pro incorporates an internal optical link between its primary network and audio sections. This optical conversion interrupts the direct conductive signal path between the two zones and is intended to reduce the transfer of conducted network noise.

Two externally accessible optical interfaces provide additional flexibility for compatible fibre-network connections. Suitable optical modules and cabling must be selected according to the actual interface specifications.

DUAL SC-CUT OCXO MASTER CLOCKS

The clock architecture incorporates two independently housed SC-cut oven-controlled crystal oscillators, supported by precision PLL circuitry. These oscillators provide stable internal timing references for the network sections.

Two 10MHz BNC outputs also allow the SW-10 Pro to serve as an external reference-clock source for compatible DACs, digital transports and other audio equipment. Clock compatibility depends on the receiving device's required impedance, signal waveform and input level.

DUAL LINEAR POWER SUPPLIES

Two NORATEL toroidal transformers independently supply the network and clock circuitry. Eighteen linear voltage regulation stages distribute low-noise power to the internal components, while AC filtering and substantial reservoir capacitors support stable operation.

The separation of the power and clock sections is intended to reduce electrical interaction between the different functions.

PRECISION ALUMINIUM CONSTRUCTION

The SW-10 Pro uses a large CNC-machined aluminium chassis with internal compartments separating its principal functional sections. The rigid enclosure also provides passive thermal management, avoiding the need for a cooling fan.

Measuring 400 × 260 × 55mm and weighing approximately 5.5kg, it is designed to integrate into high-performance audio racks alongside network servers, transports and reference DACs.

STREAMING & EXTERNAL CLOCK INTEGRATION

The SW-10 Pro can connect network storage and servers through its high-speed section while feeding suitable streamers through the isolated Gigabit audio zone. Its BNC clock outputs can simultaneously provide 10MHz references to compatible audio components, subject to their individual clock-input requirements.

Network data is transmitted digitally without intentional modification of the audio content. The performance benefits of network isolation and external reference clocking depend on the connected equipment and overall system design.
