GUSTARD A26 DELTA-SIGMA DAC
The Gustard A26 is a fully balanced network streaming DAC built around two AKM AK4499EX converters and the AK4191 digital modulator. It combines high-resolution digital conversion, wired network playback, HDMI-format I²S, external master-clock support and balanced analogue outputs in a substantial full-size chassis.
DUAL AK4499EX CONVERSION
Two AK4499EX DAC chips handle the analogue conversion, working with the separate AK4191 digital processing stage. This architecture keeps digital filtering and delta-sigma modulation separate from the conversion stage. Six selectable PCM filters and two DSD filter bandwidths allow the processing behaviour to be adjusted from the front-panel menu.
DSD DIRECT & HIGH-RESOLUTION PLAYBACK
USB and I²S support PCM up to 32-bit / 768kHz, DoP up to DSD256 and Native DSD up to DSD512. DSD Direct mode bypasses internal processing and sends the native DSD stream directly to the DAC stage. Coaxial, AES/EBU and optical inputs support PCM up to 24-bit / 192kHz and DoP64.
BUILT-IN NETWORK STREAMING
The A26 includes wired Ethernet streaming for direct integration into network-based audio systems. Roon, UPnP and HQPlayer NAA are supported, allowing the DAC to operate as both a conventional digital converter and a network playback endpoint without requiring a separate USB source.
PRECISION CLOCKING & BALANCED OUTPUT
Gustard's K2 low-noise clock synthesizer generates the internal reference clock, while a 50Ω BNC input accepts an external 10MHz master clock. The A26 provides 5.0Vrms balanced XLR and 2.5Vrms RCA outputs, with fixed output or 90-step digital volume control. An additional -24dB analogue attenuator can engage automatically at lower volume settings to reduce dynamic-range loss.
