DENAFRIPS TERMINATOR 15TH R-2R DAC

The Denafrips Terminator 15th is a reference-level true balanced discrete R-2R DAC, positioned above the Venus 15th and below the Terminator Plus 15th in the Denafrips range. It combines precision resistor-ladder conversion, separated digital and analogue circuitry, oven-controlled crystal oscillators and a substantial dual-transformer linear power supply.

Designed for high-end two-channel systems, the Terminator 15th provides extensive digital connectivity, dedicated clock outputs and balanced analogue outputs for integration with premium streaming transports, CD transports and amplification.

TRUE BALANCED 26-BIT R-2R ARCHITECTURE

The Terminator 15th employs a proprietary true balanced 26-bit discrete R-2R architecture with carefully matched 0.005% precision thin-film resistor networks. Dedicated 6-bit DSD conversion circuitry with 32-step FIR filtering handles DSD signals separately from PCM.

Selectable Non-Oversampling (NOS) and Oversampling (OS) modes provide different digital reconstruction approaches. Sharp and Slow digital filters are available for oversampling playback, allowing users to choose their preferred processing configuration.

DIGITAL & ANALOGUE ISOLATION

A defining feature of the Terminator 15th is the physical separation of its digital processing board and discrete R-2R conversion networks. The architecture is designed to minimise interference between high-speed digital circuitry and the sensitive analogue conversion stage.

This separation works alongside carefully regulated power delivery and precision clocking to maintain consistent conversion conditions and reduce unwanted electrical noise.

DUAL OCXO CLOCKING & FPGA RECLOCKING

The Terminator 15th incorporates dual oven-controlled crystal oscillators (OCXO), providing stable, low-phase-noise clock references for digital conversion. Proprietary FPGA processing and adaptive FIFO buffering reclock incoming digital data, reducing the influence of timing variations from connected sources.

Dedicated BNC clock outputs also allow the Terminator 15th to participate in compatible digital clocking configurations. Correct frequency and signal compatibility must be confirmed when integrating external equipment.

DUAL O-CORE LINEAR POWER SUPPLY

Two O-Core transformers using high-purity gold, silver and copper alloy conductors provide dedicated power delivery for the digital and analogue sections. An encapsulated, low-noise power supply incorporates multiple stages of linear regulation and carefully selected reservoir capacitors.

The substantial 19kg chassis is engineered to accommodate this internal architecture while providing mechanical rigidity and shielding. The brushed aluminium enclosure is available in Black and Silver.

FLEXIBLE DIGITAL CONNECTIVITY

The Terminator 15th accepts digital signals through USB Type-B, two AES/EBU inputs, coaxial S/PDIF, Toslink optical and three I²S connections. The I²S interfaces include HDMI-style LVDS, RJ45 LVDS and RJ45 LVCMOS connections.

USB and I²S support high-resolution PCM and DSD playback with compatible sources, including DSD1024. Configurable I²S pin assignments and DSD channel swapping provide additional flexibility when connecting digital transports from different manufacturers.

Balanced XLR and single-ended RCA outputs provide fixed-level analogue connections to compatible preamplifiers and integrated amplifiers. The Terminator 15th does not incorporate built-in network streaming or analogue volume control.
