FOSI AUDIO DS3 PORTABLE DAC & HEADPHONE AMPLIFIER
The Fosi Audio DS3 is a compact USB DAC and headphone amplifier designed for portable Hi-Fi listening, gaming and desktop use. It combines an ESS ES9039Q2M DAC with 3.5mm single-ended and 4.4mm balanced headphone outputs in a CNC-machined aluminium chassis weighing just 16g.
ESS ES9039Q2M HIGH-RESOLUTION DAC
At the heart of the DS3 is an ESS ES9039Q2M DAC paired with an XMOS USB interface. In UAC 2.0 mode it supports PCM playback up to 32-bit/768kHz and native DSD512, providing high-resolution USB audio from compatible computers, smartphones and other digital sources.
3.5MM & 4.4MM HEADPHONE OUTPUTS
The DS3 provides both a conventional 3.5mm headphone output and a balanced 4.4mm connection. Maximum output power reaches 220mW at 32Ω, while selectable low and high gain settings allow better matching with different headphones and IEMs across the specified 16–300Ω impedance range.
UAC 2.0 HI-FI & UAC 1.0 GAMING MODES
Two USB Audio Class modes give the DS3 distinct operating roles. UAC 2.0 provides full high-resolution audio support and access to eight digital filters, while UAC 1.0 expands compatibility with gaming hardware including supported consoles and portable gaming systems.
HARDWARE-LEVEL 7.1 SPATIAL AUDIO
In gaming mode, Fosi Audio's hardware-level spatial processing can accept native multichannel 7.1 audio and reconstruct it for two-channel headphone playback. Dedicated FPS and 7.1 effects are available directly from the DS3 without requiring PC software or drivers.
COMPACT USB-C DESIGN
The DS3 measures only 55 × 20 × 11mm and weighs 16g, making it easy to use with a phone, laptop or portable gaming device. Physical volume buttons also control gain, operating modes and digital-filter selection, while the unit remembers the previous volume setting between listening sessions.
