DENAFRIPS TERMINATOR PLUS 15TH R-2R DAC

The Denafrips Terminator Plus 15th is the flagship discrete R-2R DAC in the Denafrips 15th Anniversary range. Designed for reference-level two-channel systems, it combines true balanced 26-bit resistor-ladder conversion, dedicated DSD circuitry, isolated digital processing, precision OCXO clocking and a substantial linear power supply.

TRUE BALANCED 26-BIT R-2R ARCHITECTURE

The Terminator Plus 15th uses proprietary 26-bit discrete R-2R resistor networks with carefully matched 0.005% precision thin-film resistors. A separate 6-bit DSD conversion architecture with 32-step FIR filtering handles DSD playback.

Selectable Non-Oversampling (NOS) and Oversampling (OS) modes provide different digital reconstruction approaches. Sharp and Slow filtering options allow further adjustment in oversampling operation.

ISOLATED DIGITAL & ANALOGUE CIRCUITRY

The flagship architecture separates high-speed digital processing from the sensitive resistor-ladder conversion networks. This physical isolation is designed to reduce interference between digital and analogue circuitry.

Proprietary FPGA processing and adaptive FIFO buffering manage incoming audio data before conversion, reducing dependence on timing variations from connected digital sources.

PRECISION OCXO CLOCKING

Dual oven-controlled crystal oscillators provide stable clock references for the conversion system. By maintaining controlled operating temperatures, the OCXO architecture reduces frequency drift and supports precise digital timing.

Dedicated BNC clock outputs allow synchronisation with compatible digital interfaces and transports. Correct clock frequency, impedance and operating configuration must be confirmed before connection.

FLAGSHIP LINEAR POWER SUPPLY

A substantial encapsulated linear power supply supports the digital processing, clocking and analogue conversion sections. Custom transformers, carefully selected audio-grade capacitors and dedicated regulation stages are designed to minimise supply noise.

The 15th Anniversary edition also incorporates a customised rhodium-plated AC power terminal and a rigid brushed aluminium chassis available in Black and Silver.

HIGH-RESOLUTION DIGITAL CONNECTIVITY

USB and I²S inputs support PCM up to 1536kHz and DSD up to DSD1024 with compatible sources. Additional inputs include two AES/EBU connections, coaxial S/PDIF and Toslink optical.

Three I²S interfaces provide HDMI-style LVDS, RJ45 LVDS and RJ45 LVCMOS connectivity. Configurable I²S pin assignments and DSD channel swapping support integration with suitably configured transports.

Fixed-level balanced XLR and single-ended RCA outputs connect directly to compatible preamplifiers or integrated amplifiers.

DESIGNED FOR REFERENCE DIGITAL SYSTEMS

The Terminator Plus 15th is designed to operate as a dedicated digital-to-analogue converter within a high-end stereo system. A reference network transport such as the Matrix Audio NT-1 provides an appropriate source, while the Denafrips Gaia 15th offers additional digital interfacing and reclocking options.

The DAC does not include network streaming, analogue volume control or headphone amplification.
