PRECISION 60-STEP RELAY VOLUME CONTROL

At the heart of Athena 15th is a microprocessor-controlled 60-step relay attenuator. Unlike a conventional continuously variable potentiometer, this architecture uses carefully selected resistor networks and relay switching to establish repeatable volume settings.

Precision-matched military-grade metal-film resistors are employed to support accurate channel balance, low noise and exceptionally low distortion throughout the attenuation range.

The manufacturer specifies a signal-to-noise ratio of 127dB and THD+N of 0.00012%, reflecting the attention paid to the analogue signal path.

FLEXIBLE BALANCED AND SINGLE-ENDED CONNECTIVITY

Athena 15th provides three balanced XLR stereo inputs and one single-ended RCA stereo input, allowing several audio components to remain connected simultaneously.

For example, a reference R-2R DAC can be connected through a balanced XLR input, while additional analogue sources or DACs can use the remaining inputs.

Balanced XLR and single-ended RCA preamplifier outputs allow connection to compatible stereo power amplifiers, monoblocks or active loudspeakers.

These are variable line-level outputs. Athena 15th does not provide speaker-level amplification and cannot directly drive passive loudspeakers.

EXCEPTIONAL LOW-NOISE PERFORMANCE

Athena 15th is engineered to maintain precise signal transmission and stereo separation across a wide frequency range. Denafrips specifies a frequency response of 10Hz to 85kHz (-0.3dB), a dynamic range exceeding 121dB and stereo crosstalk of -110dB.

The carefully matched components and balanced Class-A architecture are intended to preserve low-level musical information and accurate channel relationships without introducing unnecessary complexity into the analogue signal path.

DEDICATED LINEAR POWER SUPPLY

The Athena 15th incorporates a proprietary O-type power transformer and a dedicated low-noise linear power supply. A substantial capacitor bank and carefully implemented regulation circuitry support the sensitive analogue stages and relay-control system.

This internally regulated power architecture provides stable operating conditions without requiring an external DC power adapter.

REMOTE CONTROL AND SYSTEM INTEGRATION

A dedicated remote control is included with Athena 15th, providing convenient operation from the listening position. The front-panel display makes it easy to monitor volume settings, while the physical controls allow direct operation of the preamplifier.

For installations involving compatible power amplifiers, the rear-panel trigger connections provide additional system integration possibilities.

The supplied remote uses a CR2032 battery, which is not included. It should not be confused with the separately sold Denafrips DN-Y3 remote intended for compatible Ares, Pontus and Erato DACs.

REFERENCE-GRADE ALUMINIUM CONSTRUCTION

The substantial 18kg chassis is machined from aluminium and designed to provide mechanical stability, shielding and effective heat dissipation for the internal electronics.

Measuring 433 × 385 × 110mm, Athena 15th is a full-size preamplifier intended for dedicated hi-fi furniture and reference stereo installations.
