Add Roon Ready network streaming, music services and isolated USB or AES/EBU output to your DX9 Discrete system.
The Topping DX9 Discrete is a fully balanced desktop DAC, headphone amplifier and preamplifier built around Topping's proprietary 1-bit PSRM conversion technology. It combines a discrete digital-to-analogue conversion platform with a powerful NFCA headphone amplifier, flexible digital connectivity and advanced DSP processing in a single aluminium chassis.
Unlike conventional integrated DAC chip designs, the DX9 Discrete uses Topping's self-developed Precision Stream Reconstruction Matrix (PSRM). Its discrete 1-bit conversion architecture incorporates 16 conversion elements per channel, operating with proprietary digital processing and analogue reconstruction circuitry.
The fully balanced DAC section achieves a manufacturer-specified dynamic range of 131dB through its XLR outputs. Dedicated RCA and XLR line outputs allow the DX9 Discrete to function as a standalone DAC within a conventional Hi-Fi system.
A six-channel discrete NFCA amplifier provides separate single-ended and balanced headphone amplification paths. The balanced output delivers up to 7,080mW per channel into 32Ω under the manufacturer's maximum-power test conditions, providing substantial headroom for compatible headphones.
Three front-panel headphone connections are available: 6.35mm single-ended, 4.4mm balanced and four-pin XLR balanced. Low and high gain settings support headphones with different sensitivity and impedance requirements.
The DX9 Discrete incorporates a configurable 10-band parametric equalizer through Topping Tune software. Users can adjust frequency response, create custom profiles and store settings for use without a continuously connected computer.
Convolution-based crossfeed processing provides an additional listening option for headphones by introducing controlled interaction between the left and right channels. DSP features operate within specific sampling-rate limits, depending on the selected input and processing mode.
USB and HDMI-style I²S inputs support PCM up to 32-bit/768kHz and native DSD512. Additional digital inputs include AES/EBU, two coaxial connections, two optical inputs and Bluetooth with LDAC, aptX Adaptive and other supported codecs.
Separate RCA and XLR line and preamplifier outputs provide fixed-level or volume-controlled connections for active speakers and external power amplifiers. Hybrid relay-based volume control, 12V trigger connections and the supplied remote control support integration into both desktop and conventional stereo systems.
The aluminium enclosure features a transparent upper panel, ambient lighting and two 2-inch colour displays. Selectable display modes include VU meters, signal information and an FFT spectrum view.
The DX9 Discrete is intended for systems that need high-quality digital conversion, headphone amplification and preamplifier functionality without multiple separate components. Network streaming is not built in, but a compatible external transport can be connected through USB, AES/EBU, coaxial or I²S.
