The Matrix Audio SS-1 Pro is a reference-grade Ethernet network switch developed specifically for high-performance Hi-Fi streaming systems. Combining high-speed network connectivity, an internal linear power supply, precision clocking and a dedicated 10MHz reference input, it offers a sophisticated network foundation for demanding digital audio installations.

DUAL 10GBPS SFP+ NETWORK PORTS

Two SFP/SFP+ interfaces support network connections up to 10Gbps using compatible optical fibre or RJ45 transceiver modules. Fibre connections can provide electrical isolation between connected network devices, helping prevent ground-related interference from travelling over a copper Ethernet link.

The flexible SFP+ architecture makes the SS-1 Pro suitable for advanced systems with dedicated streaming transports, music servers and high-speed network infrastructure.

EIGHT DEDICATED ETHERNET PORTS

The SS-1 Pro provides six RJ45 ports supporting speeds up to 2.5Gbps and two additional 10/100Mbps ports for compatible audio equipment. The slower connections are intended for installations where high network bandwidth is unnecessary.

Individually shielded Ethernet sockets, 10Gbps-grade isolation transformers and generous spacing between connectors support reliable installation, including the use of larger premium Ethernet cables.

FEMTOSECOND CLOCKING AND EXTERNAL 10MHZ REFERENCE

The SS-1 Pro employs an internal low-phase-noise femtosecond oscillator and a precision RF synthesiser. Its dual-mode clock architecture also supports an external 10MHz reference through a dedicated 50-ohm input.

A compatible external master clock can provide the reference signal for the internal network clock circuitry. Signal level, waveform and impedance must be checked before connecting an external clock.

LOW-NOISE LINEAR POWER SUPPLY

Unlike the standard SS-1, the Pro model features a fully integrated linear power supply. A custom toroidal transformer, Schottky rectifiers and approximately 10,000µF of filtering capacitance support stable internal power delivery.

Up to six ultra-low-noise LDO regulators supply the clock and network processing circuits. The main controller uses passive cooling, allowing silent operation without a fan.

PREMIUM CHASSIS AND FLEXIBLE INSTALLATION

The precision-machined aluminium chassis incorporates a reinforced steel base and configurable support-foot positions. It can be arranged with three or four feet according to installation requirements.

A rear-panel control allows the Ethernet port status LEDs to be disabled, helping maintain a discreet appearance in a dark listening environment.

DESIGNED FOR DEDICATED STREAMING SYSTEMS

The SS-1 Pro is a network infrastructure component, not a music streamer, DAC or digital audio transport. It connects network-enabled audio equipment using standard Ethernet protocols and does not process or convert audio directly.
