LHY AUDIO EFI ETHERNET FILTER

The LHY Audio EFI is a dedicated Ethernet filter designed to provide optical galvanic isolation between network equipment and high-performance digital audio systems. Combining two internal optical conversion stages, dual low-noise linear power supplies and standard Gigabit RJ45 connections, it offers a convenient way to introduce electrical isolation into a network audio installation.

INTEGRATED OPTICAL GALVANIC ISOLATION

Unlike conventional Ethernet filters that rely primarily on passive components, the EFI converts incoming electrical Ethernet signals into optical signals before converting them back to Ethernet internally. This process interrupts the direct electrical path between the network input and isolated output, helping reduce the transfer of conducted electrical interference.

The complete optical conversion system is contained within one chassis. No external fibre-optic cable, SFP transceiver or second media converter is required.

DUAL INDEPENDENT LINEAR POWER SUPPLIES

Each optical conversion stage is powered by its own low-noise linear regulation circuit based on LT3042 and PNP components. These independently regulated power sections help minimise electrical interaction between the two conversion stages.

Additional filtering includes high-capacity capacitors, common-mode inductors and AC EMI suppression, providing multiple layers of noise-control measures throughout the device.

PLUG-AND-PLAY GIGABIT ETHERNET

The EFI provides two RJ45 connections: LAN-IN for the incoming network connection and ISOLATED for the outgoing connection to a streamer, music server, network-enabled DAC or another compatible Ethernet device.

Both connections support 10/100/1000Mbps Ethernet operation, making the EFI suitable for standard Gigabit home networks and high-resolution music streaming. Installation requires only compatible Ethernet cables and mains power, without additional software or network configuration.

SOLID ALUMINIUM CONSTRUCTION

The compact chassis is machined from solid aluminium alloy and houses the optical conversion circuitry, power supplies and filtering components. Its integrated mains power supply avoids the need for an external DC adapter, while the rear-panel connections allow straightforward installation near a network streamer or audio rack.

DESIGNED FOR NETWORK AUDIO SYSTEMS

The EFI can be installed between a router or network switch and a dedicated streamer, providing an electrically isolated Ethernet connection to the downstream component. It is particularly relevant to systems where reducing conducted network interference is a design priority.

Because Ethernet audio data remains digital throughout transmission, the EFI does not change the music data itself. Any audible improvement depends on the connected equipment and the electrical environment.
