CEN.GRAND 9I-938 BALANCED PREAMPLIFIER
The Cen.Grand 9i-938 is a fully balanced high-end preamplifier designed for serious stereo systems requiring low distortion, flexible source connectivity and precise analogue level control. Its circuitry is built from discrete components and uses Cen.Grand’s fully balanced “Linear Equalization” topology, with balanced signal handling through both the input and output stages.
FULLY BALANCED DISCRETE ARCHITECTURE
The 9i-938 is based around an all-balanced analogue circuit rather than a single-ended architecture with balanced connectors added around it. Cen.Grand developed the design for use in high-power reference systems, and the 9i-938 has been used repeatedly in the company’s exhibition systems alongside its 9i-958 monoblock power amplifiers.
PRECISION VOLUME CONTROL
Volume adjustment is handled through a combination of MUSES72320 and MUSES02 devices. The available range extends from -65dB to +5dB, giving the preamplifier a wide operating window for matching different source levels and power amplifier sensitivities.
DIRECT AND BUFFER OPERATING MODES
The Cen.Grand 9i-938 provides two operating modes. In Direct mode, the volume and active amplifier circuitry are both engaged. Buffer mode bypasses the active preamplifier amplification stage while retaining volume control, allowing the user to choose the configuration that best suits the connected source and power amplifier.
BALANCED AND SINGLE-ENDED CONNECTIVITY
Two balanced XLR inputs and two RCA inputs provide support for multiple analogue sources. Two sets of balanced XLR outputs allow straightforward integration with power amplifiers, active crossovers or more complex high-end systems requiring dual balanced outputs.
BUILT FOR REFERENCE-SCALE SYSTEMS
Cen.Grand specifies a frequency response of 20Hz–20kHz within 0.2dB and THD+N of -98dB. With its substantial 12.4kg chassis and fully balanced signal path, the 9i-938 is designed as a dedicated control centre for high-performance power amplification and loudspeaker systems.
