ESS SABRE ES9038Q2M DAC

At the heart of the Primo V2 is an ESS ES9038Q2M digital-to-analogue converter operating in differential configuration. Connected to the digital processing section through I²S, the DAC provides high-quality stereo audio reproduction without requiring an additional external converter.

Balanced XLR outputs deliver a nominal 4Vrms signal, while unbalanced RCA outputs provide 2Vrms for connection to compatible integrated amplifiers, preamplifiers and active loudspeakers.

ROON READY AND HI-RESOLUTION PLAYBACK

Roon Ready certification allows convenient integration into a compatible Roon system. The Primo also supports AirPlay, UPnP/DLNA and a selection of optional plugins.

Its integrated analogue DAC provides PCM playback up to 24-bit/192kHz. For higher-resolution digital output, a compatible external USB DAC can receive PCM up to 32-bit/768kHz and DSD256, according to the manufacturer's current specifications.

BALANCED ANALOGUE AND DIGITAL OUTPUTS

The Primo provides balanced stereo XLR and unbalanced RCA analogue outputs alongside coaxial S/PDIF and USB audio output.

This flexibility allows it to function as a complete streamer and DAC or as a dedicated network transport feeding a separate high-end converter. An HDMI output can display the Volumio user interface on a compatible monitor; it is not an HDMI audio connection for an AV receiver.

FAST PROCESSING AND FLEXIBLE NETWORKING

An Amlogic S905D3 quad-core processor running at 1.9GHz works alongside 2GB DDR4 memory and 16GB internal eMMC storage to provide responsive music-library navigation.

Gigabit Ethernet, dual-band Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 5.0 offer flexible connectivity. USB 3.0, USB 2.0 and microSD connectivity provide access to compatible local storage devices.

ITALIAN DESIGN AND COMPACT CONSTRUCTION

Designed and assembled in Florence, Italy, the Primo V2 features an antimagnetic aluminium chassis with a distinctive dark wood-effect front panel.

The understated design, front standby button and compact footprint make it an elegant addition to contemporary stereo systems.

Connect the Primo directly to a compatible amplifier using its XLR or RCA outputs. Alternatively, use its coaxial or USB digital outputs with an external DAC.
